Taking a brief break from art. The title track of this particular Sabbath album, ‘Mob Rules’ is still the only song on this album that I continue to make time for.
Close the city and tell the people that
Something’s coming to call
Death and darkness are rushing forward to
Take a bite from the wall, oh
You’ve nothing to say
They’re breaking away
If you listen to fools
The mob rules
The mob rules
Kill the spirit and you’ll be blinded
The end is always the same
Play with fire, you burn your fingers and
Lose your hold of the flame, oh
It’s over, it’s done
The end is begun
You’ve nothing to say
Oh, they’re breaking away
If you listen to fools
Break the circle and stop the movement
The wheel is thrown to the ground
Just remember it might start rolling and
Take you right back around
You’re all fools
The mob rules
Various ads for the band Iron Maiden taken from several issues of ‘’Smash Hits’’ magazine. Iron Maiden was one of my favorite bands from the 80s and I think I memorized every song up to and including, ‘Seventh Son of A Seventh Son’. That was the last Maiden album I purchased and thoroughly digested, drifting away from their brand of metal (which I still love) as later albums just failed to capture my attention (much like any Metallica album after ‘…And Justice For All’). I do, occasionally, break out Maiden when no one else is home, running around singing a poor imitation of Bruce Dickinson, sometimes with cat in arms (who, I believe, is more of a Paul Di'Anno aficionado. She looks pleased when I serenade her with ‘Running Free’).

I took a weird turn on the internet and bumped into Parasite who proceeded to serenade me with dire warnings and foreboding portents. Listen dear brothers and sisters, dark tidings come on the horizon.
